One-Eyed Jack

A one-eyed jack is, in a standard deck of cards, the jack of spades or the jack of hearts, both of which are seen in profile (and thus only one eye is seen). The popularity of cards and the somewhat macabre nature of the phrase have led to its use in popular culture.

These are mostly throwaways; I took them last night to use up the last of my battery’s juice so I could recharge it today. For being quickies, they actually turned out rather good — color’s much better now that I’ve white balanced with Joce’s hair in mind, and the connection between Dom and the one-eyed jack was too good to pass up. I’ll probably take more in a similar vein in the future.

(For the curious, a larger version of the second image is currently my desktop wallpaper. XD)

a Lesson In Proper Decorum

AKA: Joce, stop taking your shirt off. n_n

No other comments. Joce’s hair is the right color again, yippee. ♥

a Lesson In Kindness

…Yet more practice, now with Justyn flavor.

a Lesson In Confidence

Bah. More practice, this time with Dom.

Nothing to say about this. Artificial light. It’s not bad, but it’s not great either. I’ll keep trying.

a Lesson In Grace

More putzing around with my camera. n_n

Still not where I want to be, but I’m getting closer. I was terrified that my first attempts at using a dSLR would turn out horrible; that four year warranty we added on would have come in handy had I thrown the camera against the wall out of frustration. Thankfully, that didn’t happen. (I don’t make a habit of throwing my cameras around anyway, but one never knows when the final straw will come up. XD)

It’s a learning process, just like everything else.

…I think my Canon likes V a lot better than the Nikon ever did.
