Sting Like A

Doodles~

I love this outfit, but I don’t know if I want to spend more time with it or change it. The weather has definitely put me in the mood for cozier fall clothes, and I’d like to make Jer look super stylish (that is, stylish at all…). Hm. .__.

Simmering Gray

Posting these because I want to be DONE because I am TIRED of looking at your STUPID FACE, JER. >:O

Keep the Peace

Nothing exciting, photo-wise, but Jer’s Sleeping Sevy head recently came back from being repainted (again), so I’m trying to make peace with the new look.

From a technical standpoint, it’s excellent, with exceptional linework. From a “capturing what I asked for” view, it’s… maybe a little less on the money, which is why I’m struggling a bit with him. His lips are… still kind of hot pink (and this after multiple attempts and dozens of references to get them to the color I wanted), and his overall appearance strikes me as more “fashion model glamor-puss” than “grumpy fighter-type”. I think darkening his lip crease and extending the corners might help with that?

I dunno. Like I said, I’m trying to give him a chance and make it work.

Out of This World

Might’ve gone a bit overboard… oops.

Ever since the Carrot-kun fiasco, I’ve been dragging my feet on photographing Jer again. The faceup on his other head was such a disappointment that I scheduled a slot with a different artist to get him repainted as soon as I could (he went out in early September), but it’s going to be at least a few more weeks before I expect him back.

I’m hoping – really, really hoping – that this time it will work out better, and I didn’t want to spend too much energy and work on an old version of him that would be rendered obsolete. But I miss sharing him, so…

Not Quite There

I adjusted his eyes a little and am trying to give him a chance, but I don’t think I can get used to him. He almost looks like Jer – he has the right head sculpt, the body, the eyes, the wig, the clothes, the accessories – and yet he doesn’t feel like Jer because the faceup keeps throwing me off. Like he’s an impostor.

I’m edging closer and closer to swapping his old head back and putting this one in its box until I can send it out for repainting with a different artist.

His eyebrows and eyelashes are gorgeous. The linework is fantastic. But he just doesn’t have the darkness and contrast and intensity he needs to really be Jerolyn. The heavy orangey-yellow blushing doesn’t work for me. The skin texturing doesn’t work for me, either, and it looks so out of place next to my other dolls with their cleaner, stylized faceups. I’m devastated that I’m unhappy with the final result in-hand and I don’t know how to fix that feeling now.
