not a jedi yet

The auctions for Jerolyn’s head and body ended one right after the other, and I was surprised that his head ended for so relatively low a price (15,500 yen). I had fully expected it to go for at least twice that. Luckily for me, it didn’t, and there was also a really nifty outfit by Kou ending right after that… so I took a chance and won it at a very nice price as well. Wearing the hood up makes Jerolyn look a bit like a Jedi.

Extra bit of trivia: the last photo is the first (and only) doll photo I’ve ever posted where I used a tripod. I’m completely not used to that, hence the strange angle, and the immediate return to my normal hand-held methods.

oh, waiter

Justyn never wears that vest anymore anyway, so Jerolyn stole it. He has such a young look to him that dressing up makes him seem more innocent somehow. I would have liked to put the tuxedo jacket on him as well, but those darn Volks SD13 boy hand sculpts are too wide for the narrower CustomHouse sleeves. Alas.

a new challenger

As had been done with the others previously, Jerolyn arrived and was immediately forced to try on most of the wigs I had (barring the ones the others were wearing!). Only the CH39 seems to suit him, with maybe the silver and black custom wig in second. At some point I’ll have to buy some wigs specifically for him.

straight laced

I never realized that DDK offered outfits for sale on their website periodically; I suppose I should have figured they didn’t just rely on getting a couple thousand off a Yahoo!Japan auction once in a while. Anyway, for whatever the reason, I thought that actually owning one of their outfits would be way out of my league, until I found this set for relatively cheap on Yahoo!Japan. Less than 7,000 yen for a cute pair of jeans (complete with DDK’s “crown” symbol on the back pocket) and an adorable black leather corset. Love it.

These are not my usual “perfect” photos with pure white backgrounds. I was trying something a little different with the shadows. Successful? I don’t know. Editing for these pretty much consisted of resizing, instead of the usual color and contrast tweaking I do in Photoshop. Gives a more “real world” feel or something.

dual angels 2

The other “dual angels” group, although saying that seems very strange to me. V just doesn’t seem like herself without her cat ears, and that poofy mohair wig… Neither of them have wings, either, for lack of space. Sometime in the future I am going to reshoot this with wings and a better wig for V.

They make a cute couple, although I’m not entirely clear on what their relationship is yet.
